Matteo Carcassi: 25 Etudes Op.60

release:2019.12.21

CarcassiMatteo Carcassi, a composer familiar to any guitar enthusiast, was an Italian-born guitarist who flourished in Paris, France.

His 25 Études, Op. 60, are pieces that anyone who has studied guitar has played at least once. However, perhaps influenced by the fact that his method books were written with beginners in mind, these 25 Études were long misunderstood as a collection for players who had only recently started guitar.

This CD features only this collection, which is musically and technically very challenging and rich in content.

This album offers enjoyment whether listened to in its entirety or by selecting individual pieces currently being studied.

Another notable point is the instrument used this time: not Masahiro Masuda’s long-cherished Romaniros, but a 1959 Ramirez III.

Unlike the Romaniros, and in a positive sense differing from the typical Ramirez sound, its unique tone is something to look forward to!
