This is the second and final installment of the complete recording project for J.S. Bach’s masterpiece, the Six Unaccompanied Cello Suites (BWV 1007-1012), completed during his tenure as Kapellmeister at the court of Köthen!
Volume 1 (FOCD9845), featuring the first three suites (BWV 1007-1009), received widespread acclaim from numerous media outlets. Music critic Shigeru Hamada, who passed away suddenly in March 2021, praised it, stating: “While he plays everything with constant order and dignity, he also expresses Bach’s profound poetic sensibility and unique lyricism. ” (from Record Geijutsu, April 2021 Monthly Review), among numerous other accolades from the media.
This release, featuring the final three suites (BWV 1010-1012), is likewise filled with dazzlingly captivating works.
